What to bring and tips
- You need a document accepted by CBP to enter the US, for example a Mexican passport with a US visa or a Border Crossing Card, a US passport or passport card, a permanent resident card, or a trusted traveler card. Check the official list on cbp.gov before you travel.
- Ready Lane is only for travelers whose documents have an RFID chip (such as the Border Crossing Card, US passport card, newer green cards or SENTRI card); everyone in the vehicle needs one.
- SENTRI lanes are only for approved SENTRI members in a registered vehicle.
- Visitors with a Border Crossing Card who go beyond the border zone (25 miles from the border in Texas) or stay longer than 30 days generally need an I-94; you can apply online at CBP's official I-94 website.
