About
BorderMins is an independent website that shows live wait times at the crossings from Mexico and from Canada into the United States, in Spanish and English, on a fast, lightweight page designed for phones.
Where the data comes from
Wait times, open lanes, hours and notices come from the public Border Wait Times data published by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) at bwt.cbp.gov. We check it every 15 minutes; CBP updates each crossing roughly every hour. Each time on the site shows when CBP published it.
For Canada–US crossings we also show the wait to enter Canada published by the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) in its "Current Border Wait Times" open data file (open.canada.ca). Contains information licensed under the Open Government Licence – Canada. CBSA publishes it only for its 30 busiest land crossings.
The "best time to cross" and the typical waits are calculated by us as the median of CBP hourly readings for the same weekday and hour over the last weeks. Part of that history comes from the hourly data CBP itself publishes for past days. When there is not enough history we say so instead of showing estimates.
Not an official site
BorderMins uses CBP and CBSA data but is not affiliated with, endorsed or sponsored by CBP, CBSA or any US, Mexican or Canadian government agency. Information is provided for reference only and actual waits may vary.
